Open Since 2002, the National 50m Swimming Pool is Ireland’s first Olympic sized pool. It measures 50m x 25m, allowing for long and short course training / competition, and has an adjustable floor at the shallow end, so the depth can be changed to suit the particular activity.
Swimming clubs from all over Ireland and abroad (such as the Dutch and GB Olympic squads, Villanova and Notre Dame Universities from the U.S) have trained here, and many have established links with management to send future high profile camps back to Limerick, Ireland’s sporting capital.
Swimming lessons and the school programme are key to us. We have a full swim development programme that caters for everybody of all abilities. Over fifty schools utilise our facilities and expertise for the swimming element of the PE curriculum.
Swimming isn’t the only activity however, as many other disciplines utilise the pool also. Water Safety classes, Canoe Polo, Waterpolo, and Sub-Aqua Diving take place weekly. Rugby, Soccer and G.A.A teams to name a few are regular users for our Aqua Sprint interval / recovery sessions. A unique feature of the Pool is that it operates in 50m format all day every day, meaning you can swim ‘long course’ all the time!
In 2017 we opened the 25M diving pool which has two Olympic diving boards (1M & 3M) . This is a fantastic addition to our aquatics facility.
